to Washington State
|
 |
Quick Facts: 3 year captain,
4 year starter, 3.9 GPA
Personal: Katie Grad was
born September 30, 1990 in Kent, Washington. Katie is the daughter of Dennis and Lori Grad, graduates of Central Washington
University. She has one younger brother Cameron, who is a member of the class of 2011 at Riverside.
Katie has been a 3 sport athlete playing basketball, soccer, and fastpitch. She has been an all league player in each
sport.
Life as a Raven: Last season Grad
was named to the TNT and the Seattle P-I All-Area Team and was the SPSL Co-MVP alongside her teammate Stephanie Wilber.
Katie is in her third year as a captain and has high expectations of winning another state championship.
Future: Having worked hard in basketball,
Katie has earned a full ride to play for Washington State University. She has already been attending classes and
participated in workouts with the WSU team. Her work ethic has already been noticed by her new teammates. Coach
June Daughtery is the new head coach at WSU and very excited to have Katie a part of the Cougar family. She is looking forward
to playing against her former teammate Julie Futch, now playing at Oregon State.
2007-2008 Review: Katie was the leader on the floor with her aggressiveness, hustle and winning mentality. Her
play and the way she carried herself took this team to another state championship. "We are working hard right
now to prepare to win another state championship. There are a lot of great teams who have a shot at it and we want to
be one of those teams", said Katie at one point. Her words proved to be true as the team played against some
tough competition at districts and state and came home with the title.
