Personal: Mercedes Wetmore was born August 9, 1991 in Tacoma, Washington.  Mercedes is the daughter of Dave and Chanelle Wetmore.  Her father Dave was a wrestling coach at Washington HS and wrestled at PLU.  She has an younger brother Mitch, who is in the 5th grade.  He is big into following his older sister with basketball and loves football.  Mercedes has one of the largest fan based following than any player, including grandparents, uncles and aunts, great uncles and aunts, and numerous cousins. Most of them followed us all summer long.

Life as a Raven: Mercedes was a starter as a freshman and contributed in a huge way throughout last season.  She is a great ball handler who can carve up defenses with dribble penetration.  She was a 2nd team all-league player last year and scored the first 5 of 7 points on our state championship game.  One of her biggest shots ever was hitting a pair of free-throws down in the Nike Northwest Shootout Championship last year and pulling up for a big time Jumper in the 90 seconds of the state championship game.

Future: Right now Mercedes is continuing to work on her game.  She knows she has a bright future playing college basketball.  Great work ethic and fun personality will interest most any college coach.  You will see plenty of Mercedes Wetmore over the next 3 years here at Auburn Riverside and probably another 4 playing somewhere in the West in college.

2007-2008 Outlook: Mercedes adds a special weapon to our backcourt arsenal.  Playing alongside other standout Nichole Jackson, watch for Mercedes to prove that they are the best backcourt on the West Coast.  Mercedes will continue to cross kids up.  She has been working hard on her pull up jumper and is excited to add that to her game.
