Quick Facts: 2 years varsity, 4.0 GPA, mom works in attendance
at ARHS
Personal: Kara Jenkins was born December 19, 1991 in Renton, Washington.
She is the daughter of Gary and Marilyn Jenkins. Her mother works at Riverside while her father works at Boeing.
Kara was a 3 sport athlete as a freshman running cross-country, playing basketball, and a solid fast pitch player in
the spring.
Life as a Raven: Kara was on of the first kids Coach Barrett
worked with when he arrived at Auburn Riverside. She was in the 6th grade and part of the first
team the Riverside feeder program put together. In fact, Kara ran point guard most of the time even though
she was one of the tallest on the team. She has been a leader and hard worker ever since. Kara
was a key player in the school’s first ever championship.
Future: Kara has family back in Chicago and would love to go back closer to more family. Mom
and dad are huge St. Louis Cardinal fans and would love to see her play near Chicago. Kara has received
some interest from some of the Big Ten schools as well as PAC 10 and other Division I schools. Kara continues
to work on her perimeter game. She is one of the hardest workers this program has seen.
2007-2008 Outlook: There is no question Kara is a huge
part of this upcoming season. With the loss of Wilber, the inside presence falls on Kara and teammate Stephanie
Egwuatu. The 5’8 guard/forward plays smart at both ends of the floor. We expect
her to average around 8 and 8 all season long.
